The LMDDC is part of a project called ECHT (Enable Digital Product Passports with Chemicals Traceability for a Circular Economy), which is co-funded by Interreg North-West Europe (NWE).
Traceability of chemicals in materials is a key enabler for the Circular Economy, but supply chain structures can make it challenging for companies to identify the chemicals contained in their products. The ECHT Project aims to address this issue by empowering regional actors to establish such traceability, thereby increasing networks, innovation and competitiveness. At the same time, ECHT paves the way for the implementation of the Digital Product Passport. Introduced by the European Commission, the DPP will give consumers access to comprehensive information on the entire life cycle of a given product. It is part of the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles.
The LMDDC collaborated with colleagues from the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) to develop the Knowledge Platform and its eLearning modules, which will collect and disseminate relevant information and materials.
The Knowledge Platform is a key project output, aiming at establishing chemical traceability as a foundation for the Circular Economy and prepare for the introduction of the Digital Product Passport. While the platform is still in development, the project consortium is currently collecting and uploading valuable content to better support the textile industry more effectively.
