The Interreg North-West Europe's Digital Deconstruction project aimed to support the transition to a circular economy in the construction industry by introducing digital methods for building deconstruction and material reuse. LMDDC collaborated with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) to make the project’s goals more accessible to the public through engaging multimedia learning resources.
To this end, LMDDC produced a series of educational materials that explain both the technical aspects and the broader environmental goals of the project. These include video interviews with project participants, explanatory animations, and guided screen recordings that demonstrate how digital tools are used in deconstruction planning and material tracking. The content is designed to support outreach, education, and stakeholder engagement across multiple countries.
The materials help clarify how digital solutions such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and smart data management can increase the efficiency and sustainability of dismantling buildings. By focusing on reuse, recovery, and reducing waste, the project promotes practices that align with circular economy principles and EU climate goals. The videos and animations highlight real cases and tools in action, making complex processes easier to understand for a broader audience.
Through this work, LMDDC and LIST aim to bridge the gap between innovation and public understanding. By turning technical content into accessible, multimedia-driven explanations, the Digital Deconstruction project encourages industry professionals, policymakers, and the public to rethink how construction materials are valued, not just at the start, but at the end of a building's life cycle.
