In Luxembourg's evolving digital education landscape, the Luxembourg Media & Digital Design Centre (LMDDC) has emerged as a pivotal force, particularly through its contribution to the development of Hackenator, a cybersecurity game designed for teenagers. LMDDC collaborated with WIDE ANDCO and the students of Lycée des Arts et Métiers (LAM) to create an engaging educational tool that transforms complex cybersecurity concepts into interactive challenges. The game aims to equip young users with the skills to recognize and respond to cyber threats, fostering a generation of digitally literate individuals
The educational content of Hackenator was validated by an advisory board comprising experts from various Luxembourg institutions, including the National Cybersecurity Competence Centre, Telindus Luxembourg, and BEE SECURE. Their input ensured that the game's material is both accurate and relevant to current cybersecurity challenges. Additionally, several schools participated in testing the game, confirming its suitability and appeal to the intended age group.
"...Hackenator aimed at teenagers aged 13 to 16, a group that is particularly vulnerable to online dangers because of their hyper-connectedness. The game can also be a valuable tool for teachers and parents wishing to raise awareness of digital safety among young people." June Lowery-Kingston, Equality Coordinator at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communications Networks
Hackenator is more than just a game; it's a stepping stone towards becoming a cybersecurity-savvy individual. By engaging with its interactive missions and mini-games, you not only learn to protect yourself online but also gain insights into the broader digital landscape. This initiative reflects Luxembourg's commitment to fostering digital resilience among its youth through innovative educational approaches.
