Starting in October, LMDDC and SCRIPT are launching EdTech Café, a series of informal gatherings about technology and learning. The principle is simple: one speaker, one topic, a relaxed venue, and above all time to talk.

Why "learning" rather than "education"?

The word choice matters. Talking about education usually means talking about schools, curricula and institutions. Talking about learning opens the door to everything else: professional training, self-directed study, the skills people pick up at work, online, throughout their lives. EdTech Café is therefore aimed as much at teachers as at trainers, researchers, tool developers and the simply curious.

A common thread: artificial intelligence

The sessions are built around AI and what it concretely changes for those who teach, design learning experiences, or learn. No product demos, no prophecies. The idea is to compare real uses, real limits, and the questions that remain open.

10 seats, no booking

The format is deliberately small: ten participants per session, no advance registration. First come, first served. Doors open at 5pm, for an hour and a half on site, enough for a short talk, a genuine exchange with the audience, and time to carry the conversation on over a coffee. It's the small group size that lets everyone actually speak, something larger formats never really allow.

with Marco D'Amico. What becomes of knowledge when machines produce text, and what literacies do we need to find our way?

18 October 2026, 5pm - SAGA
with Bob Reuter (University of Luxembourg). Does the teacher-learner-knowledge relationship still hold when a fourth actor joins the equation?
