The Pedagogical Triangle Put to the Test by AI
Teacher, learner, knowledge: for decades, this triangle has shaped the way we think about teaching and learning. Each corner has its role, each side a relationship. But what happens when a fourth actor enters the picture, one that answers questions, explains, gives feedback, and sometimes even teaches?
For the second session of EdTech Café, Bob Reuter (University of Luxembourg) will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the relationships at the heart of learning. Who holds knowledge when it can be generated on demand? Who guides whom? And who, in the end, is learning from whom?
About the speaker
Bob Reuter is Assistant Professor in Educational Technology at the University of Luxembourg, where he has been training future primary school teachers since 2004. His research explores how digital technologies reshape learning, teaching, and the way we understand knowledge itself. Drawing on cognitive psychology and socio-cultural perspectives, he looks at how educators and learners adopt and adapt new tools, often guided by implicit habits of how school and learning “should” work. His work also focuses on helping teachers integrate technology strategically into their practice, rather than simply adding it on top.

What is EdTech Café?
Launched in October by LMDDC and SCRIPT, EdTech Café is a series of informal gatherings about technology and learning. The principle is simple: one speaker, one topic, a relaxed venue, and above all time to talk. Each session focuses on AI and what it concretely changes for those who teach, design learning experiences, or learn. No product demos, no prophecies: just real uses, real limits, and open questions.
The format is deliberately small. With ten participants per session, everyone gets the chance to speak, something larger events rarely allow. After a short talk, the conversation continues with the audience and carries on over coffee.
The series opened on 14 October at Café Coyote with Marco D’Amico, who asked what becomes of knowledge when machines produce text. This second session picks up the thread from a different angle: not knowledge itself, but the relationships built around it.
